The most unique destination west of Tuscany, Castello di Amorosa is a spectacular architectural achievement that harkens back to the time of the lords and ladies. Fourteen years in the making, this winery is the brain-child of Dario Sattui, who also owns V. Sattui Winery. The 100+ rooms (including a dungeon!) were built from stones, bricks, lighting, and other elements that were carefully removed from existing structures, shipped to Napa and re-assembled by Italian stonesmiths, aided by a local crew. The beautiful frescoes telling the story of love and betrayal were painted by an artist brought over from Italy just for that purpose.
